எப்பொருள் யார்யார்வாய்க் கேட்பினும் அப்பொருள்

மெய்ப்பொருள் காண்ப தறிவு.

 

பொருள்:

எந்தப் பொருளைப் பற்றியும், எவரெவரிடமிருந்து கேட்பதானாலும், அப் பொருளினது மெய்யான தன்மைகளைக் காண்பதுதான் அறிவு ஆகும்

 

Translation:

Though things diverse from divers sages’ lips we learn,
‘Tis wisdom’s part in each the true thing to discern.

 

Meaning:

To discern the truth in everything, by whomsoever spoken, is wisdom

தட்டாம்பூச்சி தந்திரம்

 

சுமித்ராவும் பவித்ராவும் நெருங்கிய தோழிகள். பவித்ரா பணக்கார வீட்டுப்பெண். அதனால் அவள் அடிக்கடி புதிய பொருட்கள் வாங்கி வகுப்பில் அனைவருக்கும் காண்பிப்பாள். சுமித்ராவுக்கு அந்தப் பொருட்களின் மீது ஆசை வந்தாலும் தன் குடும்பத்தின் வறுமை நிலை உணர்ந்து, படிப்பில் கவனம் செலுத்தி எப்பொழுதும் வகுப்பில் முதல் மாணவியாக வருவாள். அதனால் ஆசிரியர்கள் அனைவருக்கும் அவள் ஒரு செல்லப்பள்ளை .

 

அதனால் அதே வகுப்பில் பயின்று வந்த சித்ராவிற்கு சுமித்ரா மீது பொறாமை. அவளை எப்படியாவது மாட்டிவிட்டு அவளது நற்பெயரை கெடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று நினைத்தாள். ஒரு நாள் பவித்ரா வழக்கம்போல் புதிய எழுதுகோல் ஒன்றினை கொண்டுவந்து தோழிகளிடம் காட்டிக் கொண்டிருந்தாள். சுமித்ராவிர்க்கு அதை பார்த்ததும் பிடித்து விட்டது. உடனே பவித்ராவிடம் “பவித்ரா, இந்த ஒரு வகுப்பு மட்டும் உனது எழுதுகோலை தருவாயா?” என்று கேட்டாள். நெருங்கிய தோழி என்பதால் மறுப்பேதும் கூறாமல் உடனே சுமித்ராவுக்கு எழுதுகோலை கொடுத்தாள் பவித்ரா.

 

அந்த வகுப்பு முடிந்து இடைவேளை மணி அடித்ததும் பவித்ரா ஆசிரியரிடம் சந்தேகம் கேட்பதற்காகச் சென்றாள். சில நிமிடங்கள் கழித்து, சுமித்ராவும் வெளியே சென்றாள். இருவரும் ஒன்றாக வந்து பார்த்தபோது எழுதுகோல் காணாமல் போயிருந்தது. இருவரும் எங்கு தேடியும் கிடைக்கவில்லை. அப்போது அங்கே வந்த சித்ரா “பவித்ரா, நீ வெளியே சென்றதும் சித்ரா அந்த எழுதுகோலை தன் பையினுள் ஒளித்து வைத்ததை நான் பார்த்தேன்” என்றாள். அதைக் கேட்டு அதிர்ச்சியுற்ற சுமித்ரா “இல்லை பவித்ரா! நான் எழுதி முடித்தபின் உன் புத்தகங்கத்தினுள் வைத்து விட்டேன்” என்று கூறினாள். குறுக்கிட்ட சித்ரா “வேண்டுமென்றால் நாம் சுமித்ராவின் பையை சோதனை இடலாம்” என்று ஆலோசனை கூறினாள். சுமித்ரா எவ்வளவு கூறியும் நம்பாத பவித்ரா சுமித்ராவின் பையை வேகவேகமாக சோதனை இட்டாள். காணாமல் போன எழுதுகோல் சுமித்ரா பையின் உள் அறையில் இருப்பதைக் கண்டு அதிர்ச்சியுற்றாள். “உன்னை எவ்வளவு நம்பினேன். ஆனால் நீ திருடிவிட்டாயே!” என்று சுமித்ராவிடம் கடிந்து கொண்டாள். தன் மீது ஏற்பட்ட திருட்டு பழியை தாங்கமுடயாத சுமித்ரா அழ ஆரம்பித்தாள். அப்போது வகுப்பாசிரியை உள்ளே வந்தார். உடனே மாணவிகள் அனைவரும் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் முந்திக் கொண்டு நடந்தவற்றை கூறினர். சித்ராவையும் சுமித்ராவையும் நன்கு அறிந்த ஆசிரியை மதிய உணவு இடைவேளை பிறகு உண்மையை கண்டுப்பிடிப்பதாக் கூறினார்.

 

மதிய இடைவேளையில் பவித்ரா சுமித்ராவிடம் பேசவேயில்லை. அதனால் சுமித்ரா மேலும் கவலையுற்றாள். சிறிது நேரத்தில் வகுப்பாசிரியை கையில் ஒரு சிறிய பெட்டியுடன் வந்தார். பிறகு மாணவர்களை நோக்கி “மாணவிகளே, இந்தப் பெட்டியினுள் இருப்பது ஒரு மந்திர சக்தி வாய்ந்த தட்டாம்பூச்சி. அது திருடபவர்கள் பொய் சொல்பவர்களை கண்டுபிடிக்க வல்லது. அனைவரும் எழுந்து கண்ணை மூடிக் கொள்ளுங்கள். நான் வெளியே சென்று காத்திருப்பேன். யார் பொய் சொல்கிறார்களோ அவர்கள் தலை மீது தட்டாம்பூச்சி வந்து அமரும். அதை வைத்து எளிதாகக் கண்டுபிடித்து விடலாம்” என்று கூறி அந்தப் பெட்டியைத் திறந்தார். அதிலிருந்து ஒரு பெரிய தட்டாம்பூச்சி வெளியே வந்தவுடன் கதவை வெளிப்புறமாக தாழிட்டு விட்டு காத்துக் கிடந்தார். சில நிமிடங்கள் கழித்து உள்ளே வந்த ஆசிரியை “சித்ரா, தட்டாம்பூச்சி நீதான் குற்றவாளி என்று காட்டிக் கொடுத்துவிட்டது. ஒழுங்காக உண்மையை ஒப்புக் கொள்” என்று கூறினார். தான் வசமாக மாட்டிக் கொண்டதை உணர்ந்த சித்ரா “மன்னித்து விடுங்கள். நான்தான் சுமித்ராவை மாட்டி விடுவதற்காக பவித்ராவின் எழுதுகோலை எடுத்து

சுமித்ராவின் பையினுள் ஒளித்து வைத்தேன். பின் அவள் தான் எடுத்து வைத்தது போல் பொய் கூறி பவித்ராவை நம்ப வைத்தேன். இனிமேல் இவ்வாறு செய்ய மாட்டேன். இந்த ஒரு முறை மன்னித்து விடுங்கள்” என்று கெஞ்சினாள்.

 

பவித்ராவும் சுமித்ராவிடம் “யார் என்ன கூறியிருந்தாலும் நான் உன்னை நம்பி இருக்க வேண்டும். அவசரப்பட்டு உன்னை சந்தேகப்பட்டு விட்டேன். என்னையும் மன்னித்துவிடு” என்று மன்னிப்புக் கோரினாள். சுமித்ரா இருவரிடமும் “பரவாயில்லை, இனிமேல் நாம் நல்ல நண்பர்களாக இருப்போம்” என்று மன்னித்து ஏற்றுக் கொண்டாள்.

 

பின் ஆசிரியை பார்த்து “உண்மையிலேயே அந்த தட்டாம்பூச்சி தான் தன் மந்திரத்தால் காட்டிக் கொடுத்ததா?” என்று ஆச்சரியமாகக் கேட்டாள். உரக்க சிரித்த ஆசிரியை “அது மந்திரம் அல்ல சுமித்ரா தந்திரம். அந்த தட்டாம்பூச்சி தவறு செய்தவர்கள் மேல் உட்காரும் என்று கூறியதால் சித்ரா பயந்து அவ்வபோது கண்ணை திறந்து திறந்து பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தாள் எங்கே அவள் மீது உட்கார்ந்து விடுமோ என்று. ஆனால் தவறு செய்யாத நீயோ கண்ணை இறுக்க மூடி தைரியமாய் நின்று கொண்டிருந்தாய். குற்றமுள்ள நெஞ்சு தான் குறுகுறுக்கும். எனவே இது சித்ராவின் தவறு என்பதை ஜன்னல் வழியே பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த நான் புரிந்து கொண்டேன்” என்று விளக்கம் அளித்தார்.  மேலும் மாணவிகளை பார்த்து “அன்புச் செல்வங்களே! நாம் எப்பொழுதும் அடுத்தவர் பொருள் மீது ஆசை பட கூடாது. அடுத்தவர் மீது பொறாமையும் கொள்ளக் கூடாது. நம்மிடம் என்ன உள்ளதோ அதை வைத்து மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்க வேண்டும். முக்கியமாக யார் என்ன கூறினாலும் அதன் உண்மை தன்மையை அறிந்து செயல்பட வேண்டும்; அதுவே புத்திசாலித்தனம்” என்று அறிவுரை கூறினார். மாணவிகளும் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் ஒருமித்த குரலில் சம்மதித்தனர்.

Detective Dragonfly

Sumi and Pavi are best friends. Pavi comes from a well to do family. So she often buys and brings costly items to school and show off to her friends. Though Sumi wish to have such things, considering her poor family condition, she concentrates at her studies and comes first in class in everything. So she is liked by all the teachers.

This made Susan who studies in the same class envy Sumi. She was waiting for an opportunity to get Sumi a bad name. One day, Pavi brought a beautifully carved new wooden pen. Everyone was amazed and Sumi liked it very much. She requested her friend “Dear Pavi, can you please lend me your pen for this class?”. Pavi happily gave her new pen to Sumi. After the class was over,  Pavi went to clear her doubts with teacher and Sumi followed her a few minutes later. When they both came back, they were shocked to find the pen missing. They searched everywhere but in vain.

Just then Susan came and told Pavi “Are you searching for your pen? I saw Sumi keep it inside her bag”. Sumi was shocked to hear that and told Pavi, “No Pavi, I kept it inside your book after using it”. Pavi was very confused and Susan commented “Let us check inside Sumi’s bag to confirm”. When Pavi hastily checked Sumi’s bag, she was shocked to find her pen inside. She angrily shouted at Sumi “I trusted you very much, but you cheated me!”. Sumi started to cry at her comments.

Just then their class teacher came inside. And the students narrated the incident to her. The class teacher who knew Sumi and Susan well said “We will find a solution to this problem post lunch break”. During lunch break Pavi didn’t speak with Sumi which hurted her much more the asperse on her. When the bell rang, the class teacher came inside with a small box in her hand. She held it up and showed her students “Inside the box is a dragonfly with magical powers which can find who lies and who steals. I will open the box and wait outside. Within minutes the dragonfly will sit on the one who has lied and we can easily find the culprit. So children, now you can all stand in your place and close your eyes”. Saying so, she opened the box letting the dragon fly out and she waited outside the class. A few minutes later she came inside and said “Susan, I know you are the one who actually took Pavi’s new pen. Do tell us the truth”. Susan, realising that she was caught regretted her misdoing “I am really sorry, it was me who kept Pavi’s pen inside Sumi’s bag and make her believe that Sumi stole hers. Please forgive me this time. I will not repeat this”.

Pavi also repented and apologized to Sumi “I’m sorry Sumi. Having known you for years and being your best friend, I should have trusted you”. But Sumi was very kind and generous at heart that she forgave both of them and promised to be good friends ever. Then she turned to her class teacher and asked “Ma’am, is it true that dragonfly proved you my innocence?”. She laughed and explained “It’s not magic but a small trick that i played. As I asked you all to close your eyes and stand straight, I saw through window that Susan was restless and often opened her eyes to check if dragonfly gets near to her as she was the one who stole and lied. But since you are innocent, you stood confidently. That’s how I figured who is the blacksheep”. The students admired her wittiness. And the teacher continued “Dear students, please never feel jealous of others. Everyone is unique and special in their own way. We should learn to be contented with what we have. More importantly, we should not believe anyone’s words as such. We should understand the truth behind and explore the authenticity before arriving at a conclusion”.
